(Moved) I screwed up my computer. Help me! (Linh?)

Last night I tried to turn off the computer.

There is this option it has and it allows me to update the computer and turn it off at the same time with 1 button. I click it. Then an error report messege pops up. I don't know what it said but there were two ending options. Click ok to Terminate it, or click cancel to debug it. I decide to click the X...Then it gets stuck on the first update I think.........Forgot what part of it said. I thought it was stuck or whatever and wouldn't update because I sat there for a few minutes so I decided to restart the computer then just turn it off without updating.

So this morning I turn on the computer and when it loaded up, a few things pop up. The ok to terminate or cancel to debug thing comes up and this other error report which tells me if I want to "send" or "don't send." I ignore it all knowing that I fucked something up, then when I try to open up the internet browser....nothing happens.... I restart the computer, same things come up. I open the browsers, it opens. But basically all the top bar had was a refresh button, a Stop button (to stop loading the next page) and the browser thing where you type in a website, that was all. And the loading image on the bottom changed too; no way to describe it.

So I'm thinking to myself, shit fudge. Then I do something else, probably go afk or whatever, then I reopen the internet browser and it's back to normal somehow and I did nothing to attempt to fix it.

Then me and my family goes to friends house for the chinese new year, then we come home 7 hours later and I go into ventrilo and this thing comes up.

Unable to activate DirectSound for selected device. DirectSoundCaptureCreate failed, hr = 88780078

I have no idea what this means. I cannot hear anything in ventrilo. When I go to the setup option it says no mixers available.

So it makes just as much sense as you read it now.

I restart the computer with the button on the computer while it's tring to update and shut down at the same time. Now the computer has some fucked up things about it. I don't know, I don't know, etc.......how do I know what the problem is exactly and how do I fix it without reformating.

Ok after restarting my computer, I got this informatin.

SCVhost.exe

An exception "unhandled Win32 exception" has occured in SVChost.exe

Generic host process for win32 services has encountered a problem

JIT debugging failed with the following error: unspecified error

Please check the documentation topic 'just-in-time debuffing errors' for more information

This is just randomly typed out onto here.

I'm starting to get sad...

New update:

Now after I restarted a few times, one of the time the blue screen of death came up and I had to restart again right away ( I don't read that stuff). Then when the computer loads normally and the error reports come in, I hit cancel to debug and after it says it has failed at doing so I hit ok, then it just semi freezes up. I can't open up anything, can't click the start button, can't get on the internet because nothing opens up. for example I double click the internet browser and............nothing

After you've given thoughts and opinions about every other issue, now can you answer this one? How do I reformat a computer.....

by the way right now I have the error reports dragged off to the side so I'm able to type this out right now.

so this is actually a problem I know about. What happened was windows update downloaded something crazy that FUBAR'd your computer. It corrupts your SVCHOST which is what windows uses to auto update your computer from the MSFT website. To fix it, you can try some things. Hopefully you can get into windows..if not you can use safe mode (which you get to by pressing F8 when it has the loading bar at the bottom of your screen) and go to Start Menu > Programs > Accesories > System Tools > System Restore. Then choose to restore to an earlier date (before your computer crapped out) and you should be all set. I had to deal with this a few days ago actually. hope this helps.

Thanks linh for responding.

Unfortunetly the system restore didn't work for my computer as it said no updates were done (even though it was bugging out), and it continued to bug out.

Like 1 am last night I was trying to turn off the computer through all of this. I ended up doing a small prayer to God... Neutral Very Happy Well eventually I managed to ninja turn it off right after it loads the main screen (and before error messeges come up). It had the regular turn off button and when I clicked it, it worked. And then surprisingly it started to update itself. I decided to wait longer than I did the other night, and, behold, it goes on to update 2 out of 17, and it finishes from there no problem. This morning I turn it on and it works normally.
