Teacher forces stereotypes on us (homework assignment)

My teacher thinks all kids listen to music.

I don't so I don't know where to start.

I read the book, The Color Purple.

I'm suppose to find 2 songs to go with a scene or event in the book. I have one already called, God is trying to tell you something, which is taken directly from the movie.

Find another for me!

I'll give you 90% of the gold currently in my bags if you're the first one to give me a song + lyrics that i'm satisfied with. I currently have 75 gold!

It's due in less than a week.

Nine Inch Nails - Closer
Stinkyy

Chocolate Rain - Tay Zonday
Arnis

Ignore Jack's, but oddly Chocolate Rain wouldn't be the worst choice ever, even if it is a lame internet meme.

The song is, from what I can gather, about black struggles. It obviously refers to modern times, but it can still be somewhat appropriate if you can ignore the snickers from the dorks in your class.

Don't take a song from the movie if you can help it, it makes you look unoriginal.

My suggestion for a song would be Marvin Gaye: "What's Going On / What's Happening Brother". Or possibly Gaye's "Ain't No Mountain High Enough", even if it has become generic and overused. Both seem appropriate, and both can be found in the first few entries in this youtube search:

I've never read the book, however, so I wouldn't be able to apply a situation in the story to the song. Sorry about that.

I didn't really listen to music when I was a kid either, but it grew on my quickly when I got into high school. Give it a shot sometime.

EDIT: Oh, and if you do use any of these, keep your gold =P
